Chichester University is situated in beautiful West Sussex County. Our heritage was from the 19th century when Bishop Otter College was founded in 1839. Previous to this, Chichester was a teaching college before it converted into a university.
The University has two campuses: One is the Bishop Otter Campus in Chichester, a 10-minute walk from the centre of the city and the other is Bognor Regis Campus situated 915 steps from a wonderful beach. Both of these campuses have outstanding public commute services. These campuses are historic and historic with technologically advanced structures, all set in exquisitely tended gardens.
Every year our students work together with our faculty to perform research and to contribute to the evolving worldwide. In the most recent assessment conducted by the government of university research, REF (Research Excellence Framework), the University has been ranked 90% of their research as the nationally leading, and 15% ranked as the world-leading.
In 2013 the University earned the Sunday Times Best University for Student Retention, meaning that few students opted out of their Chichester and Bognor Regis courses. The University also scores well in social studies education, international studies, performing arts, and athletics. 89.7 per cent of the entire study submission by the University was rated as globally renowned in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework, with 15 per cent of the submissions being listed as 'world-leading.'
Chichester University has locations in Chichester and Bognor Regis, in south-east England's West Sussex. Chichester is a university town and home to a variety of historic buildings and is popular in nearby South Downs with outdoor pursuits. The historic seaside resort town of Bognor Regis is very popular with visitors, featuring pleasant beaches and many small villages nearby.
Throughout the Second World War, the campus of the University of Chichester played a vital role in the D-Day invasion; one of the present teaching rooms was used in 1942 as a control room for 56 RAF squadrons stationed during the Normandy airborne invasion.
